sportcentric's Datacentre

Server Farm
sportcentric’s server farm comprises fully redundant, load-balanced Dell Poweredge servers behind a best of breed hardware firewall, giving stability, scalability, and performance.

Connectivity
sportcentric’s datacentre connectivity is provided by Claranet, one of Europe’s leading ISP's, whose network links directly to all the major European peering points and the global Internet backbone.

Claranet is a full member of major Internet Exchange Points such as LINX (the London Internet Exchange), DeCix in Frankfurt and PARIX, MAE Paris and FreeIX in Paris, and provides sportcentric with the best speed and performance available to us.

Physical Security
The datacentre features comprehensive 24/7 security. This means security barriers, 24x7x365 monitoring by on-site personnel to include visual verification of all persons entering the building, CCTV video camera surveillance and a security breach alarm providing the control room with information.

Access Control
Access to the building and data floor is via individually programmed Proximity Access Cards (PAC), usage of the PAC is logged centrally by time and date. The cards cannot be used by anyone else, whenever a card is swiped over the sensors to gain access to the building, a digital photograph is displayed on the security systems which are continuously monitored by on-site technicians. The technicians will then verify the information and only when satisfied, allow access.

Power
The datacentre has a redundant, high-capacity power supply

Fire Detection / Suppression
Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) features highly sensitive aspirating smoke detectors linked to the Building Management System, which is monitored continually from a network operations centre, provide very early detection to help avoid fire, loss and business disruption. This is coupled with a gas based fire retardant that is environmentally friendly, to put out fires instantly, without damaging equipment.

Air Conditioning
To ensure optimum performance, the data floor is maintained at a constant 21°C ± 2°C and relative humidity is kept at 50% ± 10%. Both are continually monitored via the BMS.

Building Management System (BMS)
A computerised building management system monitors and remotely operates sensors covering electrical, mechanical, fire detection and leak detection systems.
